| When I was young, I was always taught to see the forest through the trees--to gain perspective by trying to see the "big picture." But when I walk into the woods, I never see the forest, and rarely see the trees. What I see are leaves. And it is with this perspective that I go about the challenge of taking great photographs. Preconceived beauty is a very limiting concept. It restricts one's ability to appreciate the world the way it actually is. One person's curbside trash is another person's photo opp., and often times the parts of a whole are more attractive than the whole itself. It just may not seem obvious at first. ~ Christopher Gaffney It is with my photography that I try and remove the barriers that are erected with thoughts of "conventional beauty," and help bring the world into an alternative focus--a place which has always existed but is seldom seen. I have been taking artistic photographs since 2004. Living in Sherborn, MA for the last eleven years, I am the husband of a very supportive wife, Kathleen and the father of two wonderful girls Sarah and Michela. I teach photography to both individuals and groups and am available for portfolio reviews. Please email for details or to schedule a session. |
